Working Memory in Classroom
Strengthening Working Memory to Support Classroom Learning
Working memory is essential for success in the classroom, allowing students to hold, process, and apply information while engaging in learning tasks. From reading comprehension and mathematical problem-solving to following multi-step instructions, working memory underpins many of the skills required for academic achievement.
In this workshop, we will explore the crucial role working memory plays in learning and development, why some students struggle in this area, and practical strategies teachers can use to support them. Participants will gain insights into how working memory capacity affects progress in core subjects such as reading, math, and science, and learn evidence-based approaches to reduce barriers to learning.
By the end of the session, educators will leave equipped with tools to:
- Recognise signs of working memory difficulties in the classroom.
- Understand the link between working memory and academic performance.
- Apply practical strategies and interventions to support diverse learners.
This workshop is designed for teachers, support staff, educational professionals, and parents looking to enhance childrens and teens outcomes through a deeper understanding of cognitive processes that drive learning.
