I’m Dorota Styk, a psychotherapist and PhD researcher deeply committed to empowering individuals through evidence-based approaches to cognitive and emotional wellbeing. With over a decade of academic work in psychology and neuroscience, my practice blends clinical insight with cutting-edge research to support clients navigating ADHD, learning differences, neurological conditions, and the complex cognitive demands of modern life.
My therapeutic perspective is rooted in both rigorous science and human connection. As a PhD candidate in Computational Cognitive Neuroscience at Birkbeck, University of London, I explore how personalised, machine learning-driven interventions can enhance working memory—particularly within neurodiverse populations. This research directly inspired NeuxScience®, a proprietary SaaS platform I designed for adaptive cognitive training.
Clinical Depth, Academic Rigour
My clinical expertise spans trauma-informed care, early psychosis identification, ADHD strategies across lifespans, dementia caregiver support, gender-affirming therapy for transgender youth, and immigrant/refugee mental health and more. Certified in Counselling Skills (Level 2) and [ongoing] Counselling Studies (Level 3) by CPTA London, I’ve further honed my practice through 50+ professional development courses with institutions like the American Psychological Association, Stanford Medicine, and King’s College London.
I hold BPS-accredited BSc in Psychology & Neuroscience from Birkbeck. As an Associate Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University (2021–2023), I designed and led modules in Clinical, Forensic, and Developmental Psychology—a passion for mentorship that extends seamlessly into my therapeutic work.
Science Meets Humanity
My research at Birkbeck’s Dynamic Memory Lab and ARU’s Centre for Mind & Behaviour explored neurofeedback and memory architecture, ensuring your care integrates robust scientific insights with genuine empathy. I thrive on transforming complex neuroscience into practical, empowering strategies.
Lived Experience, Inclusive Values
As a mother of three, I understand the challenge of balancing multiple roles while prioritising mental health. This fuels my focus on resilience, self-compassion, and sustainable wellbeing. My practice is proudly LGBTQIA+-affirming, neurodiversity-celebrating, and grounded in inclusive care.
